altar to Nehalennia Nehalennia

Nehalennia is a goddess associated with abundance and sea-faring honored in the Zeeland area of the Netherlands.

Scholars have not settled on a satisfactory explaination for the origin of the name Nehalennia. Some have speculated that the name means "protector". The second part of the name may contain the Germanic verb helan 'to hide' (which is also the basis for the name of the Norse goddess Hel).
