Pumpkin Toss
Cut the top off a pumpkin and hollow it out as for a Jack o' Lantern. Draw a face on it using black permanent marker. Alternatively, you could use a hollow, open-topped plastic or ceramic candy holder in the shape of a pumpkin, skull or other creepy creature. Get some small scary tossible balls. (Quit snickering Aunt Ethel.) Rubber balls printed to look like bloody human eyeballs are seasonally available in the UK at card or party shops that stock Halloween decorations. The number you need will depend on how many players and how much patience you have, but five is a good starting point. Set the pumpkin on the floor (or grass, pavement, etc. if outside) and use coloured tape or chalk to mark a line about ten feet back from it-- closer or further depending on the age/throwing abilities of the contestants. If you're dealing with a variety of ages you may want to mark one line close in, for say, the five and unders, and others further out for older kids or adults.Let each player in turn have a go at throwing the five eyeballs into the pumpkin from behind the line. Retrieve the balls after each attempt and hand them to the next participant. (If you're using a real pumpkin they'll be nice and slimey.) Keep a record of how many balls each person got in. If there's a tie, hand out the balls to the joint winners and have a toss-off.(Really Aunt Ethel, that's quite enough.)
